Tipping in the USA
Recently John and the kids have participated in a NRL tipping competition with 65 other people. The three of them have been alternating weeks and having a go at tipping the Rugby League teams.
For the last two years there has been a twist in the game. Instead of simply tipping which team will win there has been head starts (Ed: Margins) for each game. For example if someone tipped the Broncos and they have a -4.5 point margin then they need to win by a least 5 points to get the tip right. Lets hear from John on what he thinks of the tipping comp and this change.
HJ: Is simply tipping a team easier or harder than the other version?
J: Just tipping the winners is easier because often you know who is going win but not by how much.
HJ: Has having the kids do some tips for you improve your score and place on the ladder?
J: Seems to have, as we are currently sitting in 2nd and when I have been doing it I haven't been doing that well.
HJ: Were you expecting to get 5 out of 5 in last weeks tipping and were the tips easier that week or do you think you just did a really good job?
J: I was expecting to get 5/5 because every week I think I have tipped the winning teams but it doesn't usually work out very well. A few people got a perfect round so it must have been an easy week, but the guy in first place only got 2/5 so that helped us catch up.
HJ: And Lastly, do you think you have a chance of coming in the top three or near the top in the end?
J: Yes, feels like we have forward momentum. I think we are going all the way to the top this year.
Looks like the Codys are doing well in their tipping comp and have high hopes. Look out for our next tipping article with results on how the Codys did in the end. Good luck Codys.
