Ponies at Assateague
In the middle of the Cody's holiday at Ocean City the family went half an hour down the road to visit Assateague Island. They were planning to do a few short hikes and maybe even, if they were lucky, see some ponies. Although the Codys were expecting to see some ponies they weren't quite expecting what the horses were doing when they got there.
The first ponies the Codys saw were when they had just drove onto Assateague. This group was trotting at a rushed pace to the bridge that led to the mainland. When driving in the Codys saw these ponies and wondered who would stop them. Luckily a guy in a little buggy drove up the side of the road at full speed to stop the adventurous ponies from escaping from the island.
The next lot of ponies the Codys saw was when they had just started their first hike. They were wandering around the carpark in a line. Edelia said "They almost looked like they were playing follow the leader!". They seemed very confident as they were wandering round sniffing and touching everything. It seemed like they had done this plenty of times before.
The other ponies the Cody's saw were all on the beach. The first was sleeping with it's hind leg up on the shore. Many people were taking photos and selfies with the horse, taking advantage of it's still position. The second group came a while later and came marching onto the beach in direction of the shore. About half way to the water the group of horses stopped at a random esky to eat some food. They all shoved there faces in the tub and ate. As the park services came over the man who owned the esky was told to drop it, as he was trying to pull it away. The park rangers ended up using a special spray to get the horses out of the food.
To conclude, it was a very fun day and the ponies were very funny. All the Codys enjoyed it amazingly.
