Endless Waterfalls
For a small holiday the Codys booked a campsite for one night at Watkins Glen. The Gorge Trail was next to the camp site and a popular attraction for visitors. The family had heard that there were many waterfalls along the 1 1/2 mi (2.4 km) trail but they weren't expecting there to be endless waterfalls.
After sleeping in their tiny tents for a night (see Tiny Tents article for more information) the Cody's were ready to go on the Gorge hike to see all the wonderful waterfalls and nature. They decided to drive to the bottom and hike to the top and back down for dinner.
As the hike started the Codys were astounded by how many waterfalls there were. On one of the signs it stated that there were 19 waterfalls in one mile (1.6 km) of the trail. Thats nearly one every 80m! All the waterfalls were beautiful with one of the highlights being Rainbow Falls, a dripping waterfall from the rock gouge above.
As well as the amazing waterfalls the greenery also stood out. Even the rocky gouge was covered with ferns and other shady plants that rely on the dripping from the rock above. The trees were bright with sunlight and the leaves seemed to be glowing.
In conclusion, all the Cody's thought it was beautiful and enjoyed the hike a lot. They didn't want to leave.
